Compare our canvas quality

We print more than just canvas, but we wanted to show you close-up photos that compare our canvas printing to two very low-priced canvas printing companies.

Our pledge of honesty

All images on this page (and our entire web site) are actual photographs of prints. We placed an order for an 8"x8" canvas with two businesses, and we printed the same files on our equipment. The files we uploaded to them to produce the prints are the same files we used to produce our work.

Comparison #1: Butterflies

We ordered an 8x8 print from a very inexpensive canvas company, and printed the identical image ourselves. (Both canvases are pictured aboveto the right.)

First, we want to say: Printing company #1 did a nice job overall with the canvas, and their price was unbelievably low. The canvas was produced outside the U.S. and shipped to us near Chicago for a reasonable shipping fee.

Note the differences

We note two differences:

1) The resolution of our print is higher. For example, the patterns on the butterfly's wings are sharper on our print.

2) The colors are more accurate on our print. For example, on printing company #1's print, the shadowed areas (for example, under the butterfly's wings) have an unnatural orange tint.

Comparison #2: Mountain valley

This canvas was ordered from a different online canvas printing company with extremely low prices.

This company also did a good job for the price. The colors of their print were desaturated a little, though, and shipping into the U.S. took 5 days longer than printing company #1.

Note the differences

We note two differences:

1) The resolution of our print is higher. Note the difference in detail within the tree in the background.

2) Our print has a greater color range. Note the more vibrant yellows in the foreground and the greater contrast between lighter and darker greens in the background.
