How to select matte or satin canvas

The image aboveto the left shows the identical image printed on Canon Artistic Matte Canvas and Canon Artisic Satin Canvas, with studio lighting to either side, and a pencil in the shot, for scale.

The matte canvas does not reflect any light at all. Even bright lights will show no reflections. Colors stay absolutely true, for photo-quality results.

The satin canvas has an attractive satin sheen to it. Lights can create a satiny glow that plays with the colors a little.

The artistic choice is yours

You'll get gorgeous results, with the same resolution and print detail, with either canvas. Both canvases are the same weight.

Some people choose the matte canvas because they want no shine, and absolutely true colors.

Some people choose the satin canvas because they like the play of colors and the textured "oil painting" look it can impart.

Open back, no cut corners

We leave the back of our wrapped canvases open. Your canvas will rest against a wall, blocking dust and making a heavy paper or fiberboard dust cover an unnecessary waste of trees.

Note the neatly folded corners. We do not cut your canvas when folding it, in case you want to remove it and re-wrap it someday.

Real canvas, real pigment ink, hand folded

A canvas from Indigo Image Lab is produced on high-resolution Canon fine art printers at maximum resolution, using 11 colors of genuine Canon LUCIA PRO pigment ink, on genuine Canon Artistic Canvas.

It is then allowed to dry, and then is stretched, folded, and stapled by hand.

This may mean a whitening of the edge of the sharp creases within the fold, shown in the image aboveto the right. This is a normal feature of any real giclée canvas—it's proof that genuine fade-resistant pigment ink was used.

Treat (and clean) your canvas with care

Your canvas is not coated—it does not need to be. The pigment ink used to produce it is UV-resistant and will withstand normal handling.

With that said, remember that your canvas is a work of art. Take care not to scratch it or scrape it, which will damage its surface.

Clean it with a soft, dry cloth or soft dusting brush. Never spray it with any liquid.
